The Migrant and Refugee Settlement Services (MARSS) is a not-for-profit organization that provides services and supports to assist people from refugee and migrant backgrounds to settle successfully in Canberra and region.
MARSS welcomes and supports people from culturally diverse backgrounds, not just those residing in Canberra and region but also those who wish to settle in our city from other regions around Australia.
MARSS provides a local connection service to assist with:
Education – information on schools and childcare
Employment – support to find jobs, volunteering opportunities or skills enhancement at local training facilities (eg. Canberra Institute of Technology).
Housing – assistance with identifying and gaining access to rental housing in Canberra or the immediate region. In certain circumstances, MARSS may offer to act as guarantor or provide a reference to ease access to housing.
Social & Cultural Connection – linking to relevant local community groups, faith institutions and sports clubs.
Anyone who is a former refugee or recent migrant living outside Canberra and is considering a move to Canberra or region is encouraged to reach out to MARSS to discuss what support is on offer. MARSS staff who speak a range of languages are on standby to make your journey to a successful contributing Canberran a reality.
